A video of a mermaid believed to have been allegedly spotted in Muizenburg beach in CapeTown has been trending on social media.

The video that has been viewed thousands of times has left many people divided. Some people think it’s real whilst some are not convinced.

This video first appeared on Tik-Tok on the 6th of April 2022. Others have argued that the video was filmed in Kenya.

Police in South Africa and Kenya have no reports of a mermaid washing off their shores. The authenticity of the video has been disputed.
