SABC reported that former Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has unconditionally apologised for becoming involved in political controversy for his comments during a Jerusalem Post Webinar in mid 2020.

Mogoeng had said under the Webinar that he was under an obligation as a Christian to love Israel and to pray for peace in Jerusalem.

The former Chief Justice later lost his bid to have the Judicial Appeals Committee overturn the decision that he apologised.

Mogoeng said in a statement that he was informed on the 666th day of the lockdown of the results of his appeal.
