Idols SA season 18 will start without seasoned judges Unathi Nkayi and Randal Abrahams. The show’s management at M-net informed the public last Friday that they were letting go of the duo.
The news coincided with news that Somizi Mhlongo was returning to the show. Mhlongo was given a break during Season 17 following allegations that he abused his husband Mohale Motaung.
M-net’s director for local entertainment claimed that it was the channel’s decision to let go of the judge so as to keep the show entertaining and competitive.
Somizi’s exit from the show led to a decline in terms of viewership. Below is a statement released by M-net.
