Hlaudi Motsoeneng served as the acting Chief operating officer of the South African Broadcasting Corporation from 2011 to 2013. He was later stripped off the position after it had been found that he lied about his qualifications.
Motsoeneng was given the money by the former SABC board. He told SABC that he was given the money by his bosses therefore there was no need to return it.
The courts ordered Hlaudi Motsoeneng to repay the money paid to him by SABC as a success fee for securing a MultiChoice deal.

Why pay back money I got legally? SABC Board recognized my good work. You're talking on a channel I created for employment. pic.twitter.com/TQ2shLGKV9— Izwe Lethu (@LandNoli) December 23, 2021
