It’s a bleak Christmas day for Ndou family at Jimmy Jones village outside Malamulele township in Limpopo Province following a shooting of seven family members.

Seven people were allegedly shot by a relative at midnight. Four deceased were minors and three were udults including a pregnant woman.

The minors were aged one, four, eight and twelve while the other victims were a 33 year old pregnant woman, her husband and her brother in-law.

A nine year old boy who was also asleep escaped unharmed. Calvin Ndou, a family member revealed that they had planned to meet as a family so that they enjoy the holidays together.

It is alleged the shooting followed a dispute over ownership of the family home. A family representative said the suspect has history of mental illness.

The perpetrator handed himself over to the police in Thohoyandou shortly after the incident.
