Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe has been installed as sixth and second black woman chancellor of the University of Capetown on Friday.

The event took place at the Cape Town Convention Centre in a ceremony attended by religious and traditional leaders.

AmaZulu King Misizulu ka Zwelithi and his wife Ntokozo Mayisela were among the dignitaries.

Moloi-Motsepe assumed the ceremonial role but her installation was postponed because of the Covid-19 restrictions.

UCT vice-chancellor, Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng, said even though Moloi-Motsepe had not been officially installed, that had not stopped her from being hands-on and playing a vital part on campus.
