Kaizer Chiefs was scheduled to clash with CapeTown City for their Premiership fixtures but Amakhosi failed to avail themselves for the game due to Covid-19.

Amakhosi were set to host CapeTown City at the FNB stadium yesterday. This comes after Kaizer Chiefs made an announcement on Friday that 31 members of their staff had tested positive to Covid-19.

Both players and members of the technical team tested positive to the virus. The club has since made an appeal to the Premier Soccer League to have the match against CapeTown City postponed.

They also asked for their December fixtures to be postponed aswell. Amakhosi was scheduled to lock horns with Golden Arrows, Sekhukhune FC, Royal AM and Maritzburg United respectively this month.

Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs players and technical team members who tested positive to Covid-19 have since been instructed to quarantine as per WHO protocols.

South Africa is currently battling the fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. The omicron variant of the virus was first discovered in the country and the numbers of those infected are rising.
