F.W. De Klerk the former South African and last white President to lead the country passed away yesterday. He died at the age of the 85, he was suffering from cancer.
De Klerk was a key figure in the nation’s transition to democracy. He was diagnosed with cancer this year. He was President between September 1989 to May 1994.
In 1990 he announced that he was releasing anti-apartheid leader Nelson Mandela from prison. Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema thanked God after hearing about De Klerk’s passing.
A lot of people on Twitter supported Malema saying De Klerk was the reason why apartheid existed. De Klerk repeatedly said apartheid was not a crime against humanity.
They said under his government De Klerk destroyed a lot of Black lives. The majority of Black South Africans are celebrating De Klerk’s death.
