It looks like songstress Kelly Khumalo is now Somizi’s replacement everywhere. A few weeks ago there were rumours that Kelly Khumalo is going to replace Somizi Mhlongo as Idols SA Judge after he was fired.
Somizi Mhlongo was scheduled to make an appearance as a guest Chef at the reopening of Garwe restaurant in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare. Mhlongo was however denied entry into Zimbabwe because he is gay.
Now the Southern African country has invited Kelly Khumalo in place of Somizi. The invitation came after Churches and Conservatives in Zimbabwe shut out Somizi Mhlongo over his s_exua_lity.
Churches under the Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe vowed to block Somizi Mhlongo from attending the red carpet event as a special guest.
They declared that they would hold a demonstration at Robert Gabriel International Airport in Harare and at Garwe restaurant if Somizi was allowed to visit the country.
Zimbabwe is one of the most strict countries when it comes to gay relationships. Such relationships are considered a criminal offense and offenders are jailed.
