Royal AM players havs told The Sowetan newspaper that they fear being robbed by criminals after Shawn Mkhize and he son Andile Mpisane handed out cash to them following their 2-1 win over Maritzibirg united this weekend.
The players said Mamkhize should have deposited the money into their bank accounts or handed the money in the dressing rooms.
The PSL has confirmed that disciplinary charges will be brought against Royal AM for the stunt.
However, Royal AM CEO, Sinky Mmisi told The Daily Sun newspaper that the payments were not winning bonuses.
Mmisi told the newspaper that the cash was payouts for bets that the players made among themselves. ‘It was R10 000 bets’ , he said.
