Investigations into the death of Joburg Mayor, Jolide Matongo, have hit a brick wall after CCTV footage of the accident.

Sunday Times newspaper reports that a City of Joburg official said investigators are trying to find private CCTV cameras that can help them understand what happened.

The stretch on the Golden Highway where Matongo had an accident does not have surveillance cameras.

Three people died during the accident : Mayor Matongo, an electrician Sagel Singh who was coming from dropping off his workers and a mysterious unidentified pedestrian whose fingerprints could not be found on the system.

The two bodyguards who were with Matongo are still in hospital
