People who were close to the accident scene of Johannesburg Mayor Jolidee Matongo are not convinced that the type of accident that occurred had the magnitude to kill the Mayor of Johannesburg.
Everything is now being suspected to foul play as the videos show that the Mayor’s BMW sustained few damages which are insignificant to cause harm to passengers.
Jolidee was elected after the passing of Geoff Makhubo who died due to Covid-19 related complications. The incident happened after Jolidee had met President Cyril Ramaphosa for the registration of local government voters.
Ramaphosa said the time they spent together was priceless. He said Matongo had the people of his home town Soweto at heart. The 46 year old was appointed Mayor of Johannesburg on 10 August 2021.
His two guards survived the accident and it is now being suspected that the incident was orchestrated. Matongo was not loved by everyone because of his Zimbabwean roots.
