Jolidee Matongo was a South African politician who served as the Mayor of Johannesburg from the 10th of August 2021 until his death on 18 September 2021.

Mzansi received the sad news of the untimely death of Jolidee Matongo who died in a fatal car crash.

Matongo was traveling from an election campaign where he was with the president of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa. Jolidee Matongo became Mayor following Geoff Makhobo’s death.

Jolidee Matongo was a son of a Zimbabwean migrant Edward Matongo. His mother was a South African and Matongo was born in Soweto in Gauteng Province in 1975.

He left behind his lovely wife and six adorable children, two boys and four daughters. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.
