Deputy president David Mabuza made his first public appearance this week since returning from Russia where he was receiving medical treatment.

The violent protests and looting which wrecked through Kwa-Zulu Natal and Gauteng province in July happened at a time David Mabuza was in Russia.

Mabuza cited unemployment, inequality and poverty as the reasons why people went on a looting spree.

He went on to reveal that the unrest which led to the death of more than 300 people and the destruction of infrastructure worth billions of Rands.

Mabuza said it is also a reminder to the government that its efforts to rebuild needs to be anchored on ensuring security for all people, property, essential services and businesses.

While president Cyril Ramaphosa had cited that the violent protests were an attempted insurrection, Mabuza simply believes these protests and looting were caused by poverty, unemployment and economic inequality in South Africa.

The office of the deputy president David Mabuza revealed that he is now in high spirits, delighted to be back at work and he’s catching up on program of action.
