Former President Jacob Zuma’s supporters gathered outside the Durban City Hall to offer prayers for the former head of state.

Jacob Zuma was recently admitted to the hospital for medical observation. The Department of Correctional Services announced on Friday.

Last month his supporters led protests in KwaZuluNatal and Gauteng provinces. Shops were looted, vehicles burnt and property destroyed.

Zuma has been serving a sentence for contempt of court at Estcourt Correctional facility in KwaZuluNatal.

The 79 year old former president is also facing charges of corruption related to the arms deal that took place 20 years ago.
