It was reported that Shutdown KZN protests had led to atleast 25 haulage trucks getting torched. Properties in the province were also burnt down.
About 19 trucks were burnt down at Mooi River plaza in KwaZuluNatal while 6 trucks were gutted down on the N3.
Zuma’s supporters want the former president freed from prison. Roads leading to and from KwaZuluNatal Province are closed because of these protests.
The protest will likely have a negative impact on the economy as some of these trucks were transporting luxury cars and expensive goods.
All these protests started when the Constitutional Court sentenced the former South African President Jacob Zuma to 15 months imprisonment after he was found guilty of contempt of court.
