Pictures of former president Jacob Zuma going through the admission process were leaked on social media.

The Department of Correctional Services has said that it has opened a criminal case after a memory card containing the pictures of the former president being admitted at the centre were stolen.

Spokesperson Chrispen Phiri said they were shocked by the distribution of the photos. He said the photos were stolen from the official who had been assigned to take photos for institutional filing purposes.

This was after the sd card was removed from thr camera. He said the matter is highly sensitive and is being investigated by both SAPS and the Department.

He went further to say the Department of Correctional Services condemns in strongest possible terms such actions and will make sure to punish those behind the incident.

Former President Jacob Zuma handed himself to the police following a ruling by the Constitutional Court compelling him to hand himself in after being found guilty of contempt of court.
