Former South African President Jacob Zuma will qualify for parole after serving a quarter of his 15-month sentence.

Justice Minister Ronald Lamola said at a press briefing on Thursday.

He said this is not a moment of celebration, but a moment of restraint.

The former president handed himself in to police at the Estcourt Correctional Centre late last night.
