Actresses Ayanda Borotho and Terry Petho have joined forces to make a short animated film named Shaka Inkosi Yamakhosi. The film is set to premiere on the 23rd of July 2021 at the Durban International Film Festival (DIFF).

DIFF said the film will transport viewers to the 1700s, the grassland of KwaZuluNatal where Nandi gives birth to Shaka, an illegitimate child fathered by Senzangakhona.

As a child he is bullied until he turns into a reminiscing warrior, great conqueror and an influential King of the Zulu people.

The story is told by a grandmother trying to encourage her young meek grandchildren who doesn’t want to go to school because he is being bullied there.

The story is brought to life by actress Dawn Thandeka King, Nhlanhla Mdlalose, Ayanda Borotho, Themba Ntuli and many more.

Ayanda Borotho said there are many films about Shaka but those stories do not give kids a clear full understanding of the history thus they decided to create an animated film that will attract the little ones.

The film is edited in Zulu and has famous Zulu songs and Rhythms.
