Jabu Mabuza, a former Eskom Board Chairman has passed away. It is believed that he died of Covid-19 related complications.

Mabuza who resigned from the power utility in January 2020 used his resignation to apologise for Eskom’s inability to meet power demand.

Jabu Mabuza had a long career in business, starting as a taxi owner in the 1980s. In recent years Mabuza served as Eskom’s Acting CEO and Chairperson.

He also served as group CEO of Tsogo Sun and chair of the Telkom board. He survived by his wife, Siviwe and three children.
