Trompies member Emmanuel “Mjokes” Matsane has died in a car accident early this morning. The group had performed last night according to record company Kalawa Jazmee.
Trompies began making music in 1990 and they released their debut album in 1995. Fellow musician Speedy from Bongo Maffin paid tribute to Mjokes.
Speedy said he was very shocked with the sad news. He described Mjokes as a funny guy and a friendly person. He mentioned that when he started his career in the early 90s it was Mjokes who was writing for him.
The name Mjokes came from the fact that Emmanuel Matsane was a very funny guy who loved joking with everyone.
Emmanuel is survived by his two sons and he was currently planning on moving into a new house with his new wife.
