South African entertainers keep shining and raising the flag high in the United States of America. Nomzamo Mbatha and Trevor Noah are good examples of such talent doing wonders far away from home.

Another South African actress Thuso Mbedu is shining in the United States of America. She bagged herself a role in the historical TV series known as the Underground Railroad.

The series premiered yesterday, the 14th of May 2021. It is based on the novel of the same name by Colson Whitehead.

The Underground Railroad is the story of Cora played by Thuso Mbedu who is a slave on a plantation in Georgia in the mid 1800s. She escapes with another slave named Caesar and finds her way to the Underground Railroad.

Thuso joined Anele Mdoda on 947 to talk about her role on the drama series. She said winning an Oscar is something she would love but the most important thing is to make her producer happy and nail her character.

She told Anele that appearing on the series is a step in the right direction for her and this proves that there is room for growth in her acting career.

Mbedu revealed that growing up she wanted to study dermatology and that drama was just a place where she would just relax. However she ended up falling in love with drama and became an actress.
