Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, the Traditional Prime Minister of the Zulu nation has released a statement saying he is deeply distressed by news coming from KwaKhangelamankengane Royal Palace that the members of the SAPS VIP protection unit have been instructed to withdraw.
They will therefore no longer provide security for his majesty the King. It is understood that those at the Palace will withdraw tonight.
Members of the SAPS stationed at the Palace have received these instructions from the provincial commissioner on bases that Prince Misuzulu has not yet been installed by government thus he is not entitled to VIP protection.
This might place Prince Misizulu’s life at risk if the security is withdrawn at this point. Both the Zulu Royal family and the Swati Royal family are shocked by this sudden development.
Buthelezi appealed to the nation to assist in finding a way to continue securing the safety of his Majesty the King.
