A memorial service is being held today for the late Queen Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu at the KwaKhangelamankengane Palace in Northern KwaZuluNatal.

This follows the Queen’s internment in a private ceremony. The Queen passed away in a Johannesburg hospital last week at the age of 65. At the time of her death she was the regent of the Zulu nation.

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs,  Nkosana Dlamini Zuma is attending the memorial service. Senior members of the Royal family are also in attendance.

Former President Jacob Zuma is also expected at the KwaKhangelamankengane Palace. People from the Nongoma area described the late Queen as their leader who always stood by their traditions.

Many are still trying to come to terms with the loss of their Queen who is reported to have died from poisoning. The family is now embroiled in court battles over who will take over the throne.

The traditional Prime Ministerof the Zulu nation Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi is expected to announce the developments concerning the new ruler of the nation.
