The African National Congress (ANC) disciplinary committee in the North West have found both former Premier Supra Mahumapelo and ANC Women’s League Acting Secretary Bintsa Lenkopane guilty.

The two were charged with misconduct after being accused of convening parallel rallies aimed at disuniting the party in North West.

The rally took place metres from an ANC Siyanqoba rally which was organised by the North West’s interim leadership (IPC) in Mareetsane in December 2020.

Both Mahumapelo and his ally Bintsa were suspended from the ANC for 5 years. As a result, Mahumapelo, the former leader of the ANC in the North West province and premier, would have to be removed as a Member of Parliament.

The disciplinary was held on the 26th and 27th of April 2021. The African National Congress North West’s PDC said Mahumapelo has a right to appeal the decision which was made.
