Former president Jacob Zuma has been offered legal representation for free by Richard Spoor.

This followed the Wednesday withdrawal of his legal team ahead of his corruption trial in May.

South African human rights attorney Richard Spoor took to Twitter on Thursday to offer his services to Zuma on a pro bono basis.

When approached for comment on whether he was serious about the offer, Spoor said yes.

Adding, Spoor said he do not doubt that there are many other law firms and counsel that would be delighted to take on such a high-profile and important case.

However, he is ready to represent Zuma voluntarily and without payment.
