Nelli Tembe’s family and friends gathered at the Durban ICC to pay their last respects to Nelli. An emotional letter from Nelli’s father Moses was read by businessman Sandile Zulu.

Zulu said the letter was a reflection of a heartbreaken father. Part of the letter read as follows.

“I can not allow an unfortunate narrative to go unchallenged, a narrative that irks me to no end, that Anele was chronically suicidal. All I can say is until Anele turned 21 not a single member of my family would have associated her with suicide.”

He went on to say Nelli’s wish was to fall in love and marry the man who would become the father of her children. Nelli’s father said he was happy when his daughter introduced him to AKA.
