The Sowetan reports that, lead actress on Uzalo Dawn Thandeka King and Rhythm City actor Mduduzi Mabaso will play lead roles on the upcoming new show DiepCity.
The new daily telenovela will premiere on Monday 5 April on Mzansi Magic. DiepCity will be replacing Isibaya which is coming to an end.
The telenovela debuts on the same night as The Estate on SABC 3. The Estate comes as a replacement for Isidingo which was canned last year. Dineo Langa, Sdumo Mtshali and Linda Sebezo will be stars of the new SABC 3 show.
Dawn Thandeka and Mabaso will be joined by Skeem Saam and Scandal star Nozuko Ncayiyane. New talented faces joining the show are Nompumelelo Vilakazi, Zikhona Bali and Kgaogelo Monama.
Director of Local entertainment channels at M-Net, Nomsa Philiso promised that the show will offer an explosive gripping storyline that exposes the lived realities of most South Africans which is the life of crime and poverty.
King who is leaving Uzalo will portray Thandiwe Jele, a strict and uncompromising mother who rules her home with an iron fist. Mabaso will portray the character of a criminal mastermind, who is feared and respected.
Dawn Thandeka is well known as MaNgcobo on Uzalo whereas Mabaso is known as Suffocate on Rhythm City.
