Pretoria High Court judge Cassim Sardiwalla yesterday said two officers who arrested Norma Mngoma abused their powers and position in the Hawks.

The arrest of Mngoma by the Hawks was unlawful and it was aimed at avenging the wrong she committed on the part of her ex husband Malusi Gigaba.

The court declared the arrest and the confiscation of Norma’s gadgets as unlawful.

Mngoma was arrested after she damaged a Mercedes Benz G Wagon in retaliation to her husband’s cheating. The Benz belonged to Peterson Siyaya, Gigaba’s friend.

The former Finance Minister, Gigaba laid a complaint claiming that there was a conspiracy to have him killed.

Norma was then charged with malicious damage to property, assault and crimen injuria. The Hawks seized her electronic gadgets to retrieve information.

The High Court judge said the former Home Affairs and Finance Minister, Gigaba used his position to intimidate his wife in their domestic matters.
