Former President Jacob Zuma’s legal woes keep compounding. The Constitutional Court has ruled against him with the former President having to go to the State Capture Commission and answer all the questions poised against him.

The court declared that Zuma can not envoke his right to remain silent as he initially threatened to do unless he can justify that speaking would implicate him.

Zuma has also been ordered to pay the Commission’s costs and that of the two counsels. Zuma was expected to appear before the Commission this month and next month to respond to allegations levelled against him.

Political analyst professor Barry Hanyane said the judgement by the court was widely accepted. He said Zuma is trying to delay and frustrate the Commission.

He also said Zuma must be treated like any other ordinary citizen and abide by the law and terms of the constitution not to waste resources just because he was a President before.

Over R700 milion has been spent on the Commission so far therefore there are growing calls saying that it’s time for Zondo to wrap it up.
