It’s an unprecedented legal battle between two companies involved in the construction of the Beitbridge border fence.

Even after the construction of the fence the borders remain porous and proving no hindrance to people entering South Africa illegally.

A sum of 21 million of the 40 million rand for the project is already in the contractor’s pockets. An October court order made it clear that no further claims or payments are to be done.

Both companies are arguing that the Special Tribunal does not have jurisdiction to preside over the civil recovery matter.

This after the Special Investigating Unit found irregularities in the tender procurement that involves millions of rands.

Both Caledon River Properties and Profteam are insisting that this is a High Court case.

Pay back the money is the call but for now this is not where the companies want the matter to be heard and judgement has been reserved.

The fence was constructed last year between the borders of South Africa and it’s northern neighbour Zimbabwe.
