Five Netcare advanced life support medics were yesterday killed when their special air ambulance helicopter crashed in Bergville, KZN.

The ambulance crew was going to pick up the late Minister in the Presidecy, Jackson Mthembu.

Dr Kgomotso Monyane, Dr Siyabonga Mahlangu, Mpho Xaba from Netcare Milpark Hospital, Sinjin Joshua Farrance and pilot Mark Stoxreiter (National Air Corp), all died in the crash.

Netcare said the team was on the way to Hillcrest, KZN, where they were to pick up a patient for transfer to Milpark Hospital in Joburg.

Dr Richard Friesland, the CEO of Netcare, confimed the crash and said counseling is being provided for family members of the deceased.
