Popular former Orlando Pirates player, Bennet Chenene told SoccerLaduma this week that he only went back to football after he got into financial problems.

Chenene, who is affectionately known as Benito, said he suddenly realised that his money had ran out. He said he tried different businesses, but at the end he has nothing.

Benito said he spent four years without a club after his playing days and he said he ended up playing in the amateurs leagues.

In 2019, Benito said he was signed by Ivorian club, Williamsville Athletic Club. Benito said he was the highest paid player, but the money was a joke. He says he would not recommend any player from SA to go to Ivory Coast.

He said although he ended up being the best player in the team, one of the bosses at the club did not like him.

Benito says he is awaiting an offer from Dubai, where two teams have shown interest in him. If that offer goes well, he says he will be able to raise capital and he knows he will use the money wisely as he is now business minded. Benito now also has a new girlfriend!
