Media personality and reality tv star Khanyi Mbau is not impressed with the alcohol ban during the lockdown in South Africa.

President Cyril Ramaphosa banned alcohol sales when he imposed a lockdown more than a week ago after a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases.

She took to social media to air her grievances saying banning alcohol does not serve the purpose of helping the numbers of new Covid-19 cases to go down.

Khanyi revealed that 160 000 people have lost their jobs due to the ban. She said more than 100 000 families have been affected ever since alcohol companies were closed and are not allowed to trade.

The actress went further to say a lot of people depend on the industry for their livelihoods therefore the government must atleast regulate the selling of alcohol.

She added that her DMs were flooded with people asking for job opportunities because they can not go back to work.
