Obani lababantu hitmaker, Gee Six Five (Olpha Selepe), has died

The news of her passing was revealed by he niece whose Twitter account is Sbu Mpungose (former editor of Cosmopolitan, Bona and True Love).

She confirmed her aunt’s death in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Olpha Selepe became an inspirational figure when she recorded and dropped her first amapiano single at the ageof 65.

Born in Emadadeni in Newcastle, KZN, the former teacher completed her Masters at 60 and was pursuing her PhD in Higher Education.

She expressed that while she had made attempts at the music industry before, through gospel, this album was a once-off thing.

However, the cause of her death has not yet been revealed.
