Soweto Mandlanzi, the author of the book Decoding 666/9 Inexplicable Life of Senzo Meyiwa has been receiving death threats ever since he started working on the book.

Mandlanzi said he was given blessings to write the book by the late Senzo Meyiwa’s father. The former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper was killed at his then girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s home in October 2014.

Five  suspects were arrested for the murder of Senzo Meyiwa earlier this week. However the  suspects are still refusing to plead guilty.

Soweto Mandlanzi told SABC News via Zoom that the threats started as soon as he began writing the book.

He revealed that at one point a guy wearing a hoodie approached him as he was coming out of his car at night and threatened him to stop writing the book.

He also said a gang came to his house and stole his laptop and papers as he was busy writing the book but that did not stop him.

Mandlanzi added that Senzo Meyiwa’s father told him to write the book in order to keep the late Orlando Pirates’ goalkeeper’s legacy.

Mandlanzi said Senzo Meyiwa’s death was not because of a robbery gone wrong because nothing was stolen including Senzo Meyiwa’s phone.
