Five men appeared at the Boksburg Magistrate court this morning on charges of killing Senzo Meyiwa.
The five men were named as Muzikawulahlelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokozisi Maphisa and SifikuhleNkani Ntuli Sifiso.
However, a leaked NPA document that showed that police sought Kelly Khumalo’s phone records to support the confession of one of the hitmen has increased speculation about her role in the murder.
The charge sheet mentioned Kelly in two places, where police wanted to obtain:
- Cellphone records of Ms Kelly Khumalo indicating her communication with the accused.
- Statement from a lender who gave Ms Kelly Khumalo the money to pay hitmen.
The accused caused drama when they refused to stand in the dock, claiming that some people who are supposed to appear in court were not appearing because “they have money”.
The accused also claimed that the police lied that they were arrested this week when they were charged in August.
The matter was postponed to 27 November.
