The first actress to be fired from the telenovela The River is Moshidi Motshekgwa. She played the role of Malefu and was fired because she was difficult to work with as she changed the scripts to suit her needs.
She disagreed with producers and directors on many occasions thus when contracts were renewed for season 2 hers was absent.
Jet Novuka who played the role of Walter and was Malefu’s lover on the show was axed off the show because of Malefu’s constant nagging and fighting with co-produces of the show.
Zenokuhle Maseko who played the role of Mbali was not supposed to last because of Tumi. Once Tumi reconciled with her mother Lindiwe then there was no need for Lindiwe to have a second daughter.
Her contract was terminated because her character was no longer necessary on the show.
Zenzo Nqobe played the role of criminal mastermind Percy in season 1 to 3 of The River. He was fired from the show because he is apparently unreliable. This is the same reason why he was fired from Rhythm City.
