Bonang Matheba joined Expresso Show via a video call to reflect on being a woman in South Africa this Women’s Month.

Bonang Matheba is among South Africa’s top iconic women. She recently did a two part documentary, A Very Bonang Year’ which chronicled her achievements.

She said being a woman  in South Africa was very scary, adding that even jogging in the morning was dangerous for women in the country.

However she said she felt like South Africa has tried to empower women.  Bonang revealed that women were driving, opening businesses and taking care of their families.

Bonang also said the biggest challenge she faced working with women was getting them to start something for themselves that is why she wants to be a champion for girls.

She concluded by saying women were important because they give life, support and nature and that they were anchors of their communities.
