Makhaya Ntini became the first black South African to play for South Africa in cricket.

He said it was the happiest time to tell his parents that he has been picked for the national team.

Ntini said cricket and rugby were harder sports to penetrate into as they are white-dominated sports.

Adding, he said for him to penetrate in that field was a lot of pressure because he wanted to break through the barrier that said black cricketers are not good enough.

Makhaya said he had to stand up for himself and show them that a sport is a sport.

More so, he said it doesn’t matter what colour you are, if you are good enough to represent the country you are good.
