Dr Dovhani Mamphiswana, the Director General in the South Africa Public Service Commission has been fingered in a corruption and fraud scandal.

Media reports revealed that Dr Mamphiswana hired his unqualified girlfriend and baby mama to the position of a Limpopo Provincial Director in the PSC, a position with the salary of R1, 3 Million per annum.

Mamphiswana, who was a Deputy Director General in 2012, was a member of the interview panel when the woman was shortlisted.

Dr Mamphiswana ‘s girlfriend was chosen out of 90 candidates that applied for the job.

The department has since refused to suspend both Dr Mamphiswana and his girlfriend.

SA President, Cyril Ramaphosa, has opened a new investigation into the case, but had also not ordered the two to be suspended.

A report by Advocate Smanga Sethene found that the girlfriend did not have the required 5 years experience in professional ethics and therefore should not have been shortlisted.

The report also found that because their child was born within 9 months of the May 2012 interview, the woman was likely in the early stages of her pregnancy when she was shortlisted.
