Itumeleng Khune is one of South Africa’s favourite goalkeepers. He was born on the 28th of June 1987. Khune is the goalkeeper for Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana.

Khune hails from the North West Province. He grew up in a family of six and his father who worked at a nearby mine was the sole breadwinner.

Growing up he wanted to pursue cricket as a career but later ventured into soccer. His younger brother Lucky Khune used to play as a striker for Kaizer Chiefs.

He also won SA Sports Awards New Comer of the Year in 2008. In 2010 during the FIFA World Cup he was chosen as the first choice goalkeeper for South Africa.

His career started off as a defender and later switched to goalkeeping after experiencing chest pains at Kaizer Chiefs. His first appearance was in 2007 for Kaizer Chiefs.

He used to date Minnie Dlamini and Sbahle Mpisane before getting married to Sphelele Makhunga. He is a father to a beautiful daughter.
